Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Abdominoplasty, more commonly referred to as a tummy tuck, is a cosmetic surgery procedure used to make the abdomen more firm. The American Heritage Stedman’s Medical Dictionary defines abdominoplasty as “plastic surgery of the abdomen in which excess fatty tissue and skin are removed, usually for cosmetic purposes.”

The surgery involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen and tightening the muscle and fascia of the abdominal wall. This type of surgery is usually sought by women with loose tissue after pregnancy or individuals with sagging tissue after major weight loss.

Liposuction

Liposuction, also referred to as lipoplasty, liposculpture or suction lipectomy, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that removes fat from many different areas of the human body. Areas targeted for liposuction include the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck.. The fat is usually removed via a cannula, with only a small incision.

Although no type of liposuction is a substitute for dieting and exercise, liposuction can remove stubborn areas of fat that don’t respond to traditional weight-loss methods

Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)

Rhinoplasty, or surgery to reshape the nose, is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the size of the nostrils or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also be used as a means of correcting a birth defect or damages caused by injury. Less common but equally important, rhinoplasty can be used to help relieve some breathing problems.

Injectable Fillers

As we age, our faces begin to show the effects of gravity, sun exposure and years of facial muscle movement, such as smiling, chewing and squinting. The underlying tissue that keep our skin looking youthful and plump begin to break down, often leaving laugh lines, smile lines, crow’s feet or facial creases over the areas of this muscle movement.

Soft-tissue fillers can help fill in these lines and creases, temporarily restoring a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. When injected beneath the skin, these fillers plump up creased and sunken areas of the face. They can also add fullness to the lips and cheeks. Injectable fillers may be used alone or in conjunction with a resurfacing procedure, such as a laser treatment, or a recontouring procedure, such as a facelift.

Other Cosmetic Procedures

Rhytidectomy (Face-Lift)

A facelift involves the removal of excess facial skin, with or without the tightening of underlying tissues, and the redraping the skin on the patient’s face and neck. Facelifts are commonly combined with eye surgery, blepharoplasty, skin resurfacing, chemical peels or lasers.

Blepharoplasty (Eye Lid Surgery)

Eye Lid Surgery, also referred to as Blepharoplasty, can be both a functional or cosmetic surgical procedure intended to reshape the upper eyelid or lower eyelid by the removal and/or repositioning of excess tissue as well as by reinforcement of surrounding muscles and tendons. When an advanced amount of upper eyelid skin is present, the skin may hang over the eyelashes and cause loss of peripheral vision. The outer and upper parts of the visual field are most commonly affected and the condition may cause difficulty with activities such as driving or reading. In this circumstance, upper eyelid blepharoplasty is performed to improve peripheral vision. Patients with a less severe amount of excess skin may have a similar procedure performed for cosmetic reasons. Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is almost always done for cosmetic reasons, to improve puffy lower eyelid “bags” and reduce wrinkling of skin.
